about us
.................................................................

The Ballroom Blitz was created in an effort to help young women attend their prom who would not be able to finance the experience on their own. Prom is a significant milestone in the life of a young woman and you can help create this priceless memory. Help us send these girls to prom with elegance and style! Donate your formal attire, volunteer your time or make a financial contribution.

We distribute the dresses at our "Boutique Day," where each girl receives individual assistance from a "Personal Shopper" as she selects the dress of her dreams. Through generous donations, we make memories to last a lifetime, and celebrate beauty and diversity in young women graduating grade twelve.

The Ballroom Blitz sees "Gown Giving" not as a handout, but rather a way to reward students who stay in school despite hardships and are determined to get an education and be successful in life regardless of the challenges they face.

This has been a great year, with so many wonderful people helping us to make graduation prom a reality for so many girls this year. From the huge success of the ReDesign Prom Competition to the generosity of so many people and companies, we can't thank everyone enough!  Regional newspapers, television and radio stations, have supported us printing stories about our events and program throughout the spring ...bringing the attention of our program to so many people across the province.

With a lot of work on the part of some remarkable women, the Downtown Diva Dress Drive was created to help support the Ballroom Blitz. These dynamic women and their friends were able to collect over 400 gowns!

A great dress drive was hosted by the Soroptomist International of Simcoe County. This wonderful group of women hosted a dress drive at Flowers by Lady Di in Alliston. What a nice evening of food, conversation and making new friends.

This year at McGill University, the girls of Kappa Alpha Theta held their third annual dress drive for gowns to support the Ballroom Blitz boutique days. There were also dress drives organized at the University of Guelph and Laurier University.

There is a wonderful program in Toronto called The Brides Project. They sell used wedding gowns with proceeds going to support various cancer organizations. This year they were able to support the Ballroom Blitz by passing along a donation of bridesmaid gowns.

A big kudos to Rita at Abovo Event Planning for kicking off our season with a generous donation of beautiful gowns.
